In the subway, in the car, or in the middle of a jog, listen episode 65 of our CIO Revolution podcast. In it, Catherine Meyer, interim CIO, reveals to you the reasons why your CIO will leave - but also gives you the keys to know how to get out (really) of a crisis.
Le challenge du mois

In organizations, it is not uncommon to see projects lasting 18 months. However, faced with this type of long, long projects, after a while, it's a mess! None of the stakeholders understand anything anymore, create Momentum in teams becomes complex... and finally, everyone has the impression that the project will never see the light of day.

Our position : Any project, regardless of your organization, should not exceed 3 months. Yes, you read that right: 3 months. At the end of such a decision, you create homogeneous projects, where everyone understands the purposes at stake.

Yes, but if all of your projects take 18 months, then? It's simple: you just need to segment it into 6 3-month projects, presenting 6 main phases. At the end of each of these phases, you can then take stock before tackling the next one - ideal for regularly motivating all your stakeholders!

Les sceptiques vous diront…
  • Impossible: all my projects last 18 months! My organization is not adapted to this methodology.
  • Impossible to split an ERP project into a 3-month project. The types of projects that I govern cannot be segmented like that.
  • I don't see what it's for. After all, we are not going to redo our specifications every time, while we are pursuing a big final objective!
Vos défenseurs rétorqueront…
  • In a way, this is already what we are doing on our long projects! Since they are already divided into major phases, this methodology does not add additional work.
  • By doing this, the DSI temporality can be aligned with that of the company. The whole organization operates on a system of semesters or quarters. By planning 3-month projects, with reports at the end of each project, our IT department will also work like that.
  • Therefore, this new temporality makes it possible to converge the energies of the professions with the sponsors.. Each of these stakeholders tends to only one event per quarter, and is therefore better aligned.
  • This is great for boosting our Roadmap with all stakeholders! The prospect of presenting a balance sheet at the end of the quarter motivates everyone to finish 3-month projects - much more than a long project with no end in sight.
Le must-read de notre blog…
📚 You have probably already experienced it in your role as CIO: when it comes to prioritizing and selecting projects, there is no magic methodology. What worked for one period of time may not work for the next. But don't be discouraged! In the next article, through feedback from CIOs, reflections and pragmatic methodological approaches, we analyze for you what you should include in your selection and prioritization process. Make way for modern and agile processes!
La leçon à retenir ce mois-ci
“This is a basic rule during crises: the manager takes the stress. The more you take on stress, the less your teams take it, the better they will work. As managers, it's our role to take the pressure off.”

That's what Joël Olivier, interim CIO, told us in episode 62 of our CIO Revolution podcast... and it couldn't be truer! Being a manager today goes far beyond being a simple contractor: you are the “buffer” between General Management and your teams, which will not only convey and clarify key messages, but also absorb the pressure that can come from above.

In short, the idea is simple: the more you take this buffer role to heart, the more brain time and serenity your teams have to devote to their own core business. It is exhausting, of course - but it is the key to success, in a period of crisis or not!

Pedagogy, or the art of rehearsal!

On Airsaas, you can assign different roles to the various stakeholders who use the platform. However, many of our users pointed out to us the fact that these roles, and the rights associated with them, were sometimes difficult to explain, especially in the context of a specific organization.
To avoid using a RACI matrix that will be forgotten in the slides of your Kick-Off After only a few weeks, we implemented a new feature, where you can customize the explanation that comes with the roles of each user.

La pédagogie, ou l'art de répéter !
Vu sur le web

Who hasn't already pulled their hair out by doing a big SQL query in their database? However, it is a real Must-Have to manipulate your data - so you're doing it, but backwards.

Faced with this problem, smart people had fun combining ChatGPT, the conversational agent that Buzze right now, to their database, to entrust them with their most complicated SQL queries. And the result is impressive: We'll let you see what happens here, and imagine what it could be like if you put ChatGPT above your CRM, your ticketing tool, or your favorite governance tool. Enchanting, isn't it?
